Lee Ellis for Alaska State House District 9
I am running to represent south Anchorage, Bird, Indian, Girdwood, Portage, and Whittier for the District 9 seat in the Alaska State House of Representatives.
As a Girdwood resident, Anchorage business owner, and statewide industry leader, I believe that Alaska is at a critical point in determining its future. District 9 needs a strong representative to ensure we choose a wise path and build a state economy with abundant opportunities for future generations. The state needs leaders who are fully invested in Alaska's long-term success.
I believe I am the logical choice. A practical leader.
Committed to Alaska
1
Economic opportunity
I am passionate about building a better environment to foster growth of our small and locally owned businesses. Local businesses build local economies. I am committed to supporting and finding new ways to develop Alaska's natural resources for the benefit of all Alaskans.
2
Quality of Life
Alaskans continue to face staggering rates of crime, underperforming schools, housing shortages, and a stagnant economy. Businesses can't grow because we can't find workers. Outmigration is limiting our economic future, and we need to be serious about competing with other states for talent.
3
Community
District 9 is unique. From the harbors of Whittier to the alpine tundra of the Hillside, it's hard to deny the size and diversity of the area. Each community within District 9 faces challenges ranging from wildfire risks to fisheries conflicts. District 9 needs a legislator that will meet with and listen to all residents.
LEADERSHIP
As a former United States Marine raised by a former United States Marine, leadership skills were drilled into my brothers and me from a young age.
I am currently the President of Midnight Sun Brewing Co., Anchorage's longest running craft brewery, and have been the Board President of the Brewer's Guild of Alaska since 2019. I have spent an extensive amount of time and energy into moving stalled legislation that was intended to modernize all of Alaska's alcohol laws. Through my committment and collaboration with stakeholders, a ten year effort at comprehensive alcohol Title reform crossed the finish line in 2022 when the Title IV rewrite bill (Senate Bill 9) was signed into law.
